Why can't I use both eSIM and Physical SIM at the same time?
Many customers only realize they are in this situation when setting up eSIM.
When installing eSIM, the device switches to using the new eSIM and deactivates the original physical SIM on your device.
This can cause some inconvenience as users still need to maintain direct contact with the primary number - the original SIM.
The answer to this issue is straightforward: your device does not support dual SIM dual standby technology. Simply put, your device can only use one SIM at a time.
To use eSIM and the primary SIM simultaneously, your device needs to support dual SIM dual standby or dual SIM dual active technology.
For iPhones, devices released from 2018 onwards, starting with the iPhone XR, support dual SIM technology. However, note that iPhones using physical dual SIMs, such as those from mainland China or Hong Kong, cannot use eSIM technology.
For Android devices, please check the information from the manufacturer or search online to determine if your device has dual SIM functionality.
